A professional author for 20 years, "Satyr" is best-known as Phil Brucato, the driving force behind the award-winning RPGs Mage: The Ascension, Mage: The Sorcerers Crusade and Deliria: Faerie Tales for a New Millennium. Beyond his RPG work, though, he's also published...

* The anthology RAVENS IN THE LIBRARY, a benefit collection featuring Holly Black, Charles de Lint, Neil Gaiman, Laurell K. Hamilton, Amy Brown, Carrie Vaughn, Terri Windling, Midori Snyder and many others. For details, see http://www.sjtucker.com/ravens.html.

* Short fiction (the magazines Weird Tales, newWitch, The Tomb, Cyber Age Adventures and The Morning Star, plus over half-a-dozen anthologies from Daw, Masquerade, Harper Prism, White Wolf and other publishers)

* Essays, columns and interviews (newWitch Magazine, Realms of Fantasy Magazine, Disinformation Press, beat-a-go-go.com, Fantagraphic Press, Citadel Press and Knights of the Dinner Table, plus several local newspapers and weekly magazines)

* Comics (White Wolf, Infobia Magazine) and a forthcoming webcomic called STRING THEORY.

* Novels (the Ascension Warrior trilogy)

...and a variety of pending-publication projects.

These days, Phil's a regular writer for newWitch Magazine, where he maintains the "Chalice & Keyboard" column, contributes to the "Spell it Out" column, and authors various articles and interviews. In recent months, he's written game books for Pinnacle Studios, short stories for Weird Tales and BBI Media, a film treatment for Vagabond Fimworks, and a selection of projects for private clients. Until recently, he danced with the Asheville Movement Collective, modeled at various art schools, and returned to the Line Developer's chair at White Wolf with the book Changing Breeds. As of November 2007, Satyr's teaching game design at the Art Institute of Seattle. Meanwhile, he's been writing three novels (Holy Creatures To and Fro, Stolen Child and Rutherford Faire), scripting several graphic novels (details forthcoming), and creating new projects with his partner Damiana. Busy? Nah...

What transforms a humble mortal into a Satyrblade? In Phil's case, it involved over 25 years of theatre, music, publishing, bodywork and alternative spirituality. Phil joined White Wolf from 1992-2000, founded Laughing Pan Productions in 2000, co-created Smoke, Mirror & Muse Entertainment in 2001, jumped into Talisman Studios in 2006, and rejoined the Wolf pack in 2007. A neopagan with techgnostic-Christian tendencies, Phil favors skeptical optimism, eternal curiosity, and a passionate approach to life. He has a satyr tattooed on his shoulder blade, and it’s there for a reason.
