Excellent.

Just wanted to add: I very rarely sell original art. But when you feel the time is right (maybe right around the release date), we can auction off the original cover illustration and add that in to the fund.

James
Well, I was also thinking we could produce (at no cost) a dozen or so limited-edition prints of it as well, for the underbidders on the original. I have the facilities here to do them, and I can pull the supplies out of other projects. What do you think? Could raise a good chunk of money.
Great ideas, all 'round.

Wow. This is magic.
Awesome - well done, all of you!
Ooooohhhh....it sparkles it does!

Count me in, if you need me.

OH
MY
GOODNESS

(that's the polite toned down version!)

All in one book...
Neil Gaiman, creator of some of the stories in my favourite fantasy land- the discworld. (That is the Neil Gaiman you mean, right?)

Amy Brown- definitely my favourite fantasy artist (yes, just take a look at our walls for confirmation).

The Soojster herself!

Phil Brucato- hmmmmmmm... last I heard, some dodgy writer dude who hadn't got the hang of wearing shoes ;-)
Ok ok, shoes or no shoes you're writing is very very good Phil!

AND to top it all off, it's for a good cause.

Come on people. I think the question should be who would be crazy enough NOT to want to own a book like this?
Ok, haven't quite woken up yet, and managed to not log on.
The previous post was me. I wasn't trying to be anonymous!
Gaiman is MOST certainly among the greats, but I think "DIscWorld" is the creation of Terry Pratchett, not Neil Gaiman. Although the two DID collaborate on "Good Omens"

Sorry, not meaning to be snarky, it's just the lit geek in me :)
Yes, "discworld" is most certainly the creation of Terry Pratchett. I never said that was Gaiman's creation.
I know at the very least he co-wrote Good Omens. I'm sure there's more, but right now my tiredness is winning out over searching through my bookcase.
SWEET!

I am so there!
Oh, this is even more awesome than I thought; and I did in fact guess right on three points.

The electronic download says there is no file; will there ever be an electronic copy or shall we just wait impatiently for the 22nd?

The logo looks like it flew off the wall of Allen Library. <3
It's not downloadable. That was a shopping cart glitch. Should be fixed now.

We MIGHT make this available at some point, but the book's not even finished yet. :)
Wow. I went to order one, but had some process issues. I'm in Taiwan, but when I selected that country, the price didn't change - shouldn't there be a higher shipping cost?

Also, since my Paypal is form a US account, it won't let me put in a non-US address. Is it OK if I just put my real address in the 'special instructions' section?
Hmmmm...

We're still trying to sort out the "foreign sales" issue.

We WILL ship out of the States, but it'll cost more. How MUCH more will depend on where it's going and how much the book eventually weights.

We are looking into POD and shipping through lulu.com, but that isn't certain yet.

Just hold off for now. We'll sort out that shopping cart thing.

Thanks! :)
Cool, thanks for the quick reply. Any possibility of an electronic edition?
Possibly. It will depend on the financial issues involved.
*snags*

So. Very. Awesome.
that is super-exciting. i am so there =)
I want one dreadfully badly. Is there a non electronic address for ordering? Or is it already listed someplace my less than perfectly observant self already missed it?
Holy mazurka-macramé! I'm...so there.
Bought and looking forward to it :)
Ordered and paid--looking forward to it! I had been considering how I wanted to contribute, and this was too good to pass up.

Got to you via Seanan and Vixy.

I also friended you so I can follow all the news about this and sooj.
This sounds great!
Can you make a new post when the international shipping costs are available? I usually read this through feed...
An another question, is it possible to get this signed by someone?
Hi Phil!

I've got a question about this book. May I send you an LJ message? (wanted to ask if I could first in case you don't like/don't use that).
Thank you :)
WOW...

hugs
I might be a bit 'late and duh' on this one, but did you see that SOS is spotlighted on the front page? :)

Did you notice?

saveours00j is the top listing on the "In the Spotlight" section on the LJ main page today.

This is absolutely one of the better manifestations of the Inter-Web! Kudos to the architects!

Yes, indeed, the authors are fantastic but though I've not had the pleasure of meeting the might Sooj, I've had enough close friends exhort their joy in her being that I am only too happy to pitch in. May your health soar and your debt fall away...

Oh, and as I'm a librarian-type devoted to provenance... I found out about this excellent action through the Wily Writers group on Facebook, run by Angel McCoy. Cheers!
Thank you.

And Angel has a tale in this, as well.

Please spread the word! :)
EXCELLENT!!

My friend, Nathan, did some editing on the story she was submitting but I hadn't heard if it was accepted or not.

Oh, trust me, I'm gonna do my darnedest to make a viral-marketing epidemiologist's eyes cross! :D
Cool. Thank you. Please. Let's just say 25 grand ain't gonna be nearly enough to cover the cause. We're gonna need a bigger boat.
This is beyond all levels of jaw-dropping awesomeness, Phil. I'm greatly impressed and inspired. My rent check just went through, so I can spare a few coins for the lovely Sooj. My order has been placed. *hugs*

Thanks, love. Yeah, it's been a crazy week. I just started the project nine days ago, and since the moment I started sending emails and making calls, my life - and Dami's - have been all manner of insane... in a good way. Mostly. I need a nap.

*hugs*
I feel a little bad for thinking this, but if it wasn’t for her illness I would never have met her music, so something good came of it. I been listening to its songs, and I really liked them, and I’m of course buying it. What initially got my attention was the book, but that led me to want to know who Sooj was. And in addition to having a gifted voice, she is very beautiful. Tell her if she ever come to Chile, she is more than welcome to stay in my home :-) We could watch Firefly :-P

Hope she’ll recover soon so we can have more of his wonderful music (and a photo session, please).

Off Topic

Hey, any word, any at all, of Goblin Markets and Deliria in general? Some of us are still keeping our eyes out, hoping something will come down the pipe. Maybe you could release what you have, rather than see it go to waste? Or put it on a website with a 5-10 dollar membership fee to read what you've got and maybe do the occasional article or couple page piece?

I'm not giving up hope ...

(please post your response and thoughts on the Deliria forum, since I'm much more likely to check there than here ... and your post may help kick things back into action)

Off Topic Too

Re: Off Topic Too

Aw - thank you, sweetheart! I don't see myself taking the job (as I'm in love with Seattle), but thanks for thinking of me. How you doing in your new home, luv?
May I gank this and re-post, please, to help further promote?

A loving (and well-read) friend of Beth Leggett's.
